Will #Apple and #Amazon merge? #Digital #disruption becoming expected.

Will Apple and Amazon merge? (Considered in the EPIC 2020 video) Who and what will Google own in the future?

Digital disruption is becoming expected and the future is sure to be dramatically different in the next 5-10 years.

Disruption: To start us off – if you have not yet viewed Mary Meeker’s slideshow – it is a must!

MIT, Khan Academy Partner on Instructional Videos

Michigan Program provides new learning exprience.

Stanford Experiment in WIRED

YouTube launches Education Tube

TED Talks releases Ted Ed beta

And a great visual from Visual.ly

For Entertainment: Where do we begin?

netflix.com/

and the list goes on…

Technology: Here again – the list of technology aspects that are constantly being disrupted is remarkable. Will we need Microsoft of Adobe [creative suite] and others  if Google offers numerous apps for little to no fee with auto-updates via the cloud.

With this in mind – I would say that Cloud Computing is one of the key components going forward that will fundamentally change the way technology lives and by default – how we live.

Still waiting for us to all be flying around with jet-packs!

All for now.

How do you like me now? What do you think of the New JC Penney?

I have been keeping an eye on the re-branding of JCP the past several months and this morning I noticed that their stock price, market share and positioning is taking some heat in the news.  Apparently the re-branding efforts are not paying off yet, and that has some worried.

I don’t intend to get into the stock price, but I will say, that if JCP wanted to stay alive, or at least be relevant – they had to do something. Doing nothing seemed sure death.

With this in mind, I thought I would share a pdf of my observations on some of their re-branding efforts, which I personally applaud. And I say, give it time. With all of us going to on-line shopping practices it begs the question – will our kids laugh at the idea of going to a store?

If there is a future for on-site, in-store, traditional retail shopping , then JCP may have just stepped up their game enough to be relevant again.

Their goal it appears -is to attract the new, younger, hipper, digital shopping generation – but may be coming at the cost of losing some of the traditional shopper.

Maybe that is the point.

Whatever the case may be, they are going for it.

Is this post part of the problem? Are you part of the problem?

The internet is growing at the rate none of us really has a handle on and it seems it is only increasing.

WAIT! You mean someone does have a handle on it?

I just watched a video that was rather interesting – check out Vint Cert – and his simplified but informative message – What if the INTERNET RAN OUT OF ROOM?

As a related topic – I ask – Are you addicted to the web? You may want to read this if you are on Facebook a LOT!!

Thanks to TechJournal for the great info-graphic.

How do they put the yellow “1st and 10” line on the football field of NFL games?

As a football fan (OK huge GreenBay Packers fan) and one who has been in the creative, computer and entertainment space for some time I am sometimes asked how do they put that yellow line on the football field to show where the 1st down is?

As if my limited knowledge of computer graphics would know – which it doesn’t.

In fact, this actually has baffled me for some time and it seemed much more complicated than simply ‘keying’ the color as they do during a weather cast with a map.

Well, it is much more complicated. I just read this article which tells the many components and steps it takes to present the “1st and 10” line.
